Giving Back
Over the past several years, I’ve committed over 300 hours annually to community service, with a strong focus on supporting the arts and nonprofit organizations through creative initiatives. As a current Board Member of The Brush Art Gallery, I actively contribute to gallery operations, promotion, and fundraising efforts, and I also donate original paintings and photography for special events.
My volunteer work extends to designing logos for local causes, including Alternative House (a shelter for survivors of domestic abuse), Colby-Sawyer alumni events, and BSA Danvers Troop 58. I’ve also painted custom Adirondack chairs for nonprofit auctions that benefit organizations such as the Greater Lowell Boys & Girls Club, Merrimack Valley Food Shelter, and YMCA. Additionally, as co-captain of the LGH TeamWalk for CancerCare, I help lead fundraising and awareness efforts for Enterprise Bank’s team.
Celtics Adirondack Chair
Created chairs for Lynn Elementary Basketball League, Greater Lowell YMCA, and Lowell Boys and Girls Club
Concept:
Design and hand-paint custom Adirondack chairs to be donated for nonprofit fundraising auctions or raffles. Each chair began as an unfinished piece and was transformed into a one-of-a-kind design.
Deliverables:
One custom Adirondack chair donated to each nonprofit organization.
Unique challenge:
Each chair was fully sanded, custom designed, and hand painted with a Celtics theme. The seat was stained and detailed using a wood-burning iron to recreate the parquet floor pattern. The process required multiple coats of paint and waterproofing for durability. While the overall design remained consistent, a championship trophy was added to reflect the Celtics’ 2024 title, making each piece timely and unique.
Alumni Logos
Colby-Sawyer College
Concept (left):
Design a logo for Colby-Sawyer College’s Class of 1994 25th reunion.
Deliverables:
Logo used across t-shirts, magnets, stickers, and a commemorative poster.
Concept (right):
Create a series of logos for Colby-Sawyer College’s alumni scholarship fundraising event over a four-year period.
Deliverables:
Annual logos used on t-shirts and website graphics.
Unique challenges:
Each logo needed to capture the spirit of its event while feeling meaningful to the Colby-Sawyer community. This included incorporating era-specific elements such as the college’s former logo, as well as recognizable campus symbols tied to school culture, including the silhouette of Mount Kearsarge and references to the alumni scholarship football fundraiser.
4x4 Canvas
Created for The Brush Art Gallery
Concept:
Participate in an annual fundraiser where artists create a 4x4 inch artwork on a provided canvas using any medium. The pieces are raffled to fund a $1,000 scholarship for a UMass Lowell art student, with remaining proceeds supporting Special Perspectives, an organization that provides art instruction to adults in recovery, including residents of Megan’s House.
Deliverables:
One original 4x4 canvas, contributed across multiple years.
Unique challenge:
Working at such a small scale required a thoughtful approach to composition and detail. Each piece needed to feel complete, intentional, and visually engaging within a very limited space, while still reflecting my personal style and supporting the spirit of the fundraiser.
Promotion for Team Charity Walk
Lowell General Hospital’s TeamWalk for CancerCare
Concept:
Promote fundraising efforts by encouraging Enterprise Bank employees, along with their friends and family, to join the bank’s walking team in support of CancerCare.
Deliverables:
Email blasts, intranet web graphics, and fundraising materials including PDFs showcasing raffle baskets.
Unique challenge:
The goal was to motivate participation in both the walk and the fundraising efforts. The designs needed to clearly communicate event details, fundraising goals, and incentives while maintaining an encouraging, community-focused tone that inspired people to get involved.
Troop Special Event Patches
Danvers BSA Troop 58
Concept:
Create a unique identity for the Merit Badge College event that aligned with BSA branding while reflecting the personality of the troop.
Deliverables:
Logo used across the event website, administrative materials, and as an embroidered patch for participants.
Unique challenge:
The logo needed to follow BSA brand guidelines while still feeling distinct and fun for Troop 58. I incorporated eagle imagery to represent the rank of Eagle Scout and drew from the color language of BSA merit badges, including the silver used for Eagle-required badges and the lime green seen on elective badges. The design also had to translate cleanly to embroidery, requiring careful attention to line weight, detail, and color limitations.
Red Sox Adirondack Chair
Created chairs for Merrimack Valley Food Bank, Greater Lowell YMCA, and Georgetown Athletics
Concept:
Design and hand-paint custom Adirondack chairs to be donated for nonprofit fundraising auctions or raffles. Each project began with an unfinished chair and evolved into a unique, sports-themed piece.
Deliverables:
One custom Adirondack chair donated to each nonprofit organization.
Unique challenge:
Each chair was fully sanded, custom designed, and hand painted with a Red Sox theme. While the overall design remained consistent, adjustments were required to accommodate differences in chair manufacturers and construction. This ensured each finished piece maintained the same visual impact and quality despite varying specifications.
